Located in Lawrenceville, GA, the Lawrenceville Performing Arts Center’s expansion is a bright addition to the Aurora Theatre. The new state-of-the-art total precast concrete structure is one level with a staircase leading to loft seating for a balcony view of the performances and an even higher ceiling above the stage to accommodate a fly system and technical theatre equipment.
The performance arts center spans 56,000 SF in total, and features a grand theatre, a cabaret area, indoor and outdoor venue spaces, classrooms, and offices designed to provide art center goers with a breathtaking, and immersive experience.
Metromont aided early in the project’s development, answering engineering questions and helping with the art center’s structural layout. Through working with Metromont, our client decided against brick and block and chose precast concrete walls instead to speed up construction and restore the theatre as soon as possible. Twelve-inch insulated thermal efficient precast wall panels were integrated into the design process to save money on energy costs for the future. Metromont’s Hiram, GA, manufacturing plant produced 51,642 SF of precast concrete for this project.
On the exterior façade, a beige architectural mix with a trowel finish wraps around the base of the building. In complement to the mix, Endicott cast-in thin brick is used in various shades for a contemporary look along with a medium sandblast to create texture. The brick façade stays within the theme of the surrounding architecture for Lawrenceville’s historic downtown square.
