The 2020 PCI Design Awards winner in the Stadium and Arena Structure category, SunTrust Park was completed in 2017 as the new state-of-the-art ballpark for the Atlanta Braves. The 1,100,000-SF facility was designed by architect Populous to include both precast structural and architectural components and occupies 15 acres in Atlanta, GA. Metromont’s Hiram, GA manufacturing facility produced 1,188 structural precast components for the ballpark, including four layers of precast concrete seating platforms supporting 41,500 seats, with overlapping seat decks designed to give fans the sensation of being right on top of the action. Design of the seating required manufacturing a range of structural components because of the complicated geometry involved. Metromont produced risers and tub sections to accommodate variable heights, which required new forms for every level to ensure excellent views from every seat. The cantilevered design extends the front seating out closer to the field than any other major league baseball stadium. The ballpark was renamed Truist Park in January 2020 after the merger between SunTrust and BB&T.
